Lighting Asia/India Lights up the Innovation Showcase Pavilion at the Clean Energy Ministerial in New Delhi, India
April 20, 2013, New Delhi : India hosted the fourth Clean Energy Ministerial in New Delhi on 16–18 April 2013. Energy ministers and others senior delegates from more than 20 of the world’s leading economies convened to identify tangible steps they can take to generate more rapid progress toward the CEM’s overall goal—that of accelerating the transition to a global clean energy economy.
At the CEM Innovation Pavilion in New Delhi, IFC had a booth where it showcased select investee clients as well as the Lighting Asia/India Program. For the latter, IFC had an exciting experiential “dark room” where visitors and delegates could test some of the IFC quality assured products in situ! The CEM presented an opportunity to bring this energy access program to the attention of the senior delegates and public alike, while allowing visitors to see for themselves the effectiveness of some of the available solutions. Forty booths representing innovative products and services that best demonstrate the advancement of clean energy technologies were present.
Many of the portfolio companies at the IFC booth, leveraged the convention to present their technologies and solutions to a wider audience and some companies demonstrated their technology at the venue. Pravin Bhasin, of Minda NexGen Tech Ltd said, “Our product, solar powered mini grid, is an emergent technology and the opportunity to talk about it at such forums will help it get greater global exposure and open the doors to new business opportunities and collaborations”
The Clean Energy Ministerial also featured a series of closed door round tables, relating to energy access and climate change mitigation. IFC was represented by Jeeva A. Perumalpillai-Essex (Manager, SBA South Asia) at the mini-grid round table,
