Lighting Asia/India hosted a workshop titled ‘Off-grid renewable energy solutions: A CSR opportunity’ on 22nd June 2016 in New Delhi. This first-of-its-kind event saw participation from over 25 corporates and implementing partners including Schneider Electric, Canara HSBC, Cairn India, Yes Bank, and Alstom Energy, among others. The half-day event covered a wide array of issues including current CSR activities in renewable energy, challenges to implementation, and future collaborations for accelerated impact.
The workshop was a platform to facilitate linkages between corporates, implementers and other suppliers of quality verified solar lighting products to help India meet its energy access challenge. The meeting sparked dialogue on how best to design meaningful and credible CSR partnerships, and also showcased a range of projects with a renewable focus. The event concluded with an interactive session with various corporates highlighting the importance of undertaking projects that align with the business vision of the company, as well as undertaking long-term projects that focus on creating shared value.
The corporates and implementing partners—part of the Lighting Asia Program that presented their initiatives—included d.light energy, Dharma Life, Greenlight Planet and TOTAL Oil India Private Limited.
