Lighting Asia/India Program supported the third India Energy Access Summit 2018 held on February 12 – 13 in New Delhi. The summit was jointly organized by The Climate Group and Clean Energy Access Network in partnership with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. The Summit brought together policymakers, investors and businesses in the decentralized renewable energy (DRE) space to identify opportunities, challenges and successes in India’s fast-changing energy landscape. A number of IFC clients including Frontier Markets, Greenlight Planet, d.light design, Onergy, Dharma Life and Philips participated and shared their perspectives on various aspects of the DRE space including gender, finance, business models and skills and capacity building.
Anjali Garg, Program Manager, Lighting Asia/India was part of the Advisory Committee of the Summit and provided inputs on the overall structuring and objectives of the Summit.
Arthur Itotia Njagi, Lighting Global Program Lead moderated the Panel Discussion: on emerging market trends for DRE solutions in India. This session focused on the past achievements as well as future trends of DRE solutions with respect to upcoming technologies, business models, market risks and mitigations. The discussion also focused on the role envisioned for the DRE sector for the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7 by 2030
