October 20, 2017- Creating market for solar products on roof of the world

Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) is home to mighty snow-capped peaks, gushing rivers and rushing torrents. Yet there is a dark side to its stunning natural beauty. People are suffering from power crises despite GB being the water bank of Pakistan. There is a potential for production of over 40,000 MW from running water but the reality is that even today, numerous villages are off-grid whereas others suffer from constant power breakage and long hours of load-shedding.

In October, 2017 the initial visit of IFC’s Lighting Pakistan Program received a warm welcome from the government, civil society organisations and opinion makers.
